THERE WILL  BE ONE BUS STOP WHICH IS LOCATED ACROSS THE STREET FROM THE CITY HALL, ON THE NORTH SIDE OF AVENUE G AT THE CHURCH.

STOP TIMES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

EASTBOUND:  6:50 - 8:50 - 1050 - 12:50 - 2:50 - 4:50

WESTBOUND: 8:20 - 10:20 - 12:20 - 2:20 - 4:20 - 6:20

ROUTE 510 -- Temporary Route Change - TEMPLE

Due to the construction along the Loop, and the relocation of the westbound access road, the Route 510 bus can no longer make the established bus stops between 31^st and 57^th streets.  Therefore, the route has been temporarily modified as follows:

After the route crosses 31^st Street westbound, the route will turn north onto 37^th Street, and will have a temporary bus stop adjacent to Mazzio’s.  The route will then turn left, traveling west on Everton.  From Everton, the route will turn left going south on Exchange Plaza, and will have another temporary stop just past the side entrance into the large shopping center.  The temporary stops will be marked with temporary bus stop signs.  We will resume, to the greatest extent possible, the regular route and bus stops as soon as the Loop is adequately open to traffic.  If the road configuration changes enough, we may need to modify the bus stop locations, but we will do so as needed.

NEW HOP SERVICE

The HOP will begin providing service on two new routes April 1, 2009.  One route, known as the Connector route, will operate weekdays, and is designed to connect all fixed routes operated by The HOP.  The Connector will begin service each day at the Scott & White Pharmacy stop on Cross Drive in Killeen at 6:40 AM.  The Connector will travel along Highway 190 to Belton where it will connect with another new route, Route 610, designed to serve as a “Belton circulator” route.  The Connector, in its eastbound trip, will stop in Confederate Park at 7:10 AM, then continue to stops at Scott & White and the VA in Temple.  On its westbound return trip, the Connector will stop again at Confederate Park at 8:10 AM, then return to arrive at Scott & White Pharmacy in Killeen at 8:40 AM.  The Connector will operate 12 hours each weekday, serving each designated stop every two hours, ending service in Killeen at 6:40 PM.

Route 610 is a new fixed route that is designed to serve the City of Belton in much the same way Route 35 serves Harker Heights and Route 65 serves Copperas Cove.  Like all other current HOP fixed routes, Route 610 will operate once each hour, starting service each day at 6:10 at Confederate Park.  The route is designed to circulate throughout Belton with access to the following major points:

·        Belton Walmart

·        UMHB

·        Loop 121 Justice Center

·        Expo Center

·        Highway 436 back to 1-35

Route 610 will operate weekdays, ending service at 6:40 each evening.

These routes are subject to the same fare structure as all other fixed routes currently serving Killeen, Copperas Cove, Harker Heights, and Temple.  The base fare is $1.00, with reduced fares for students, people 6o years of age and older, people with disabilities, recipients of Medicare, and children under the age of 12.  Monthly Passes purchased in Temple or Killeen HOP offices will be honored on both Route 610 and the Connector route.

PARATRANSIT SERVICE FOR MEDICAL TRIPS FROM KILLEEN, COPPERAS COVE, HARKER HEIGHTS AREA TO TEMPLE

The HOP is now accepting reservations from Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Harker Heights area clients who are STS trip eligible to ride HOP STS buses to and from medical trips in Temple.  This is a limited use service, and governed by the following limitations.

 

1.    Only STS clients may schedule trips (other than clients of the Medical Transportation Program (MTP) contract);

2.    Trips may be reserved only on a space available basis and only if MTP clients are already making the trip;

3.    Each trip must be reserved, including return trips;

4.    Trip times are limited, and usually pre-set by the HOP.

Specific trip times for picking up in the Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Harker Heights area and leaving the Temple medical facilities include the following times.  Your actual scheduled pickup time may vary, depending on your location and other passengers traveling on that trip.

These trips are limited, and are not guaranteed to operate unless MTP passengers have trips scheduled.  However, the HOP’s experience is that many of these trips will operate each day, and STS passengers will now have a way to travel to Temple for medical appointments, provided the passengers can be flexible with their travel times. 

Please remember trips are for medical purposes only – no other trip purposes will be approved.  Trips may also be scheduled to travel from Temple to the Killeen, Copperas Cove, and Harker Heights area if, and only if, the trip purpose is medical.  For more information, or to schedule a trip, please call the Killeen HOP Scheduling Section at 616-6800, and press option 2 on the automated menu.
